Welcome!!  My name is Wally.  I am a NYSDEC-Licensed fly-fishing guide residing in Roscoe, NY.  The Catskill Mountains are the birthplace of American fly fishing.  The history here is deep, and the magical waters still attract fly anglers from all over the world.  This is Trout Town USA for a reason!

I have been a teacher, instructor and coach since I was in High School.  I have instructed numerous physical and athletic activities, including fly-fishing, swimming, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking.  I do not consider myself a fly-fishing guide or instructor….  I am your coach!

While always welcoming veteran and experienced fly anglers, I specialize in teaching beginners and coaching the novice fly fisherperson to success on the water.  Fly-fishing is a highly skill-centric and technical endeavor.  My gift is breaking the casting skills into a slow progression and presenting the technical content in small, digestible bites.  I listen to my students and follow the pace they are comfortable with.  All learners use different senses for their key inputs, and I tailor my instruction to how the fisherperson responds.

I welcome family groups and younger students.  Sharing the magic of a Catskill river experience as a family unit makes for special memories!  Let’s do a picnic lunch on the bank between catching trout on the Beaverkill.  My passion and enthusiasm for the outdoor experience is palpable and contagious.  Please come visit!
